At Hoy Consulting design is viewed as the vehicle to make content more engaging and accessible. It is not an end of its own.

Simple, understated design is better in the vast majority of cases. Clashing colors other distracting visual tools too often obscure or even completely obliterate the message that is being communicated.

I remember picking up the first couple editions of ESPN: The Magazine back when it debuted in 1998. The photography and graphic design was incredible, but too often the text to go along with the articles was practically unreadable.

Good design doesn’t need to come at the expense of content.
