From March 2016 to February 2017, Matthew Hoy was the conservative columnist for the San Luis Obispo Tribune, a McClatchy-owned newspaper on California's Central Coast. At the newspaper's request, his columns focus mainly on local and state issues.
Matthew's blog, Hoystory.com, was started shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Though there have been ebbs and flows in the quantity of commentary posted there, the blog is one of the longest-running on the Internet, focusing on politics, society and the media.
Matthew launched RestrictedArms.com in 2019 in an effort to educate people who live in "restricted" states on how to exercise their Second Amendment rights. The site includes detailed how-to guides on buying your first firearm in California, Hawaii, New Jersey and New York. Additionally, the site includes a news feature updated regularly on legislative efforts to infringe on Second Amendment rights.
